Morten Spanggard

Born in Farso, Denmark in 1970. He studied classical guitar under Karl Petersen and voice at the Music Academy of Aalborg Denmark where he earned his diploma in 1998. Meanwhile, from 1993 to 1998, he studied the Alexander Technique with Helle Stender at Aalborg and Jean Gibson at London. In 1996-97 he studied privately with guitarist and Royal College of Music professor Carlos Bonell in London. It was there where he met the pianist and conductor Giorgos Hatzinikos who for M. P. S. has been a permanent source of inspiration and knowledge since then until now. In 1998, he came to Athens to be in closer contact with G. Hatzinikos, and at the same time won a scholarship and did postgraduate studies with guitarist Giorgos Kertsopoulos.

He earned his guitar soloist diploma in June 2000, achieving unanimous highest marks and the first prize. He has sung as a professional chorister in many churches in Denmark. He has taught music, voice and musico-kinetic training to grade-school and kindergarten students in Denmark and Greece. He has given solo and chamber music recitals in England, Iceland, Denmark and Greece. He has collaborated with music ensembles on works of the classical and contemporary repertory. Since 1992 he has worked closely with the mezzo soprano Eline Denice Risager in Corduo.

He has actively participated in many seminars and master classes most notable of which were those conducted by Pepe Romero and Aldo Lagrutta. He has also participated in musico-kinetic seminars in Salzburg and Athens. Since 1999 he has employed the Kertsopoulos-Aesthetics (i.e. different varieties of strings, tunings, double-string guitar, etc.) which strive to resurrect timbres of the instrument from older times.
